This game has performed big in the Esport scene for it needs players to think more and more as it is based on strategy and skills. The game is placed in a certain arena where two teams of 5 players compete for victory. They need to defend their own bases and destroy the opponent base by destroying towers. First, one to destroy the base tower wins the game. But it is not easy as it is said, players need to have a really good and working strategy against the opponent. And strategy differs according to the heroes they pick.

The International has always been the largest esports tournament with the highest prize pool from the first. It started with a $1.6M prize pool at the first-ever DOTA 2 tournament ‘The International‘. Last year only, they had kept a $34.3 Million prize pool. Now in 2020, DOTA 2 is having its 10th edition of the largest yearly Championship The International. This time they have surpassed the $40 Million prize pool for the first time ever.
This year’s tournament is delayed due to COVID-19 pandemic and more days have been added before the tournament. So, that the players can even contribute more until the day of ‘The International 2020‘.
Where does the DOTA 2 prize pool come from?
The money to be added to the prize pool comes from the players purchasing the battle pass. Players can contribute by purchasing the battle pass from where 25% goes in addition to the prize pool. As Valve provides $1.6 Million, this year players have contributed over $38.4 Million making the total sum of over $40 million.
The prize pool of the Dota 2 championship ‘The International‘ is $40 Million breaking its own previous record of $34 Million. We hope to see more growth in DOTA 2.
